GRIEVING
TOGETHER
Wild Mourning
ABOUT
Wild Mourning began in 2020 shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic began. I created this virtual grief container as a response to the collective global grief I was witnessing and concurrently experiencing. It later evolved into an in person retreat offering, which offered even more potent embodied nature based rituals to process grief.
Wild Mourning is not a traditional therapy group, and draws upon the wisdom of the life death life cycle found in nature. Each element demonstrates a fundamental truth about grief and how we process it and reflect it in our behaviors and in our bodies. We are a part of nature after all. There is no pathology to be found here. Only connectedness.
Group Structure / What to expect
Each week we will learn about a different element found in nature and how it corresponds to common grief symptoms. We will explore how these show up in your life through a series of experiential interventions- writing, body based somatic practices, and verbal processing. We will also learn about various coping skills and regulation tools- and, more importantly- when grief does not need an intervention and it simply needs room for expression.
You will leave with a greater understanding of yourself in the context of loss and and a greater sense of interconnectedness to nature and the people surrounding you.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
"It is difficult to put into words how wonderful this offering is. Nica was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and a wealth of information. I also enjoyed learning from the other participants and creating community. I learned so much about myself through the writing prompts and journal exercises.
I highly recommend experiencing Wild Mourning."

“Wild Mourning offers a welcome deep dive into our experiences of grief. Nica offers a window and framework through which to examine and work with our feelings using the elements of earth, air, fire, water and spirit. Their passion for sharing this knowledge and experience with others is immediately palpable. Nica creates and holds a space that is warm and inviting, simultaneously gentle and challenging, allowing us to feel accepted where we are and encouraged to explore. Sharing experiences and writings in this setting felt richly supportive. Wild Mourning was a deeply satisfying experience that I didn't want to end. I find myself turning to the practices learned on a regular basis.”
